Article note: The really interesting bit is the set of identity groups that were dominated by troll farms in the parent TR article.
Large pages for Christians (...all but one of the top 20), Black Americans, Native Americans, and Women were all run by known troll farms who were really adept at driving measurable engagement via mostly-plagiarized bait posts.
Because our society is a vast Goodhearts' artifact of optimizing for things that are measured, no matter the side effects.
Weirdly, farms largely out of Kosovo and Macedonia, which is not exactly what I'd expect unless they're contractors for other foreign governments (which, let's be honest, they probably are Russian assets).
