Article note: Remember the microformats rel="me" stuff for doing _exactly this_ automatically, that had enough traction for Google to base Buzz on it (before, like all their social network projects, they killed it).
We had this, it was good, people were too dumb, and more importantly the coercive, monetizing silos didn't like it.
