Article note: As always with these, and discussed in the HN thread, even before the EME bullshit, the problem with the web is that it has been overtaken with absurd complexity and legacy burden, making it effectively impossible to actually build clean implementations.
I don't know exactly what a cleaner, smaller, web would look like (and gemini is too minimal to be what I'd like to see), and I also don't know how to keep it small and stable and not accreting into another monstrosity, but it's a lovely dream.
