These look competent and user-centered in a way none of the modern designs seem to be.<\/div><p>Certain watches can stay just as they are and people will keep buying them. The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Casio_F-91W\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Casio F-91W<\/a>, the most-sold watch in the world, keeps the time on a readable display and offers a single daily alarm slot (unless you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sensorwatch.net\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">board-swap it<\/a>). The <a href=\"https:\/\/timex.com\/collections\/shop-all-weekender-watches\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Timex Weekender<\/a> may last as long as mechanical watches exist.<\/p>\n<p>What about the Pebble? Is there still room on people's wrists for the most exciting Kickstarter-backed tech of 2012&ndash;2016?<\/p>\n<p>Eric Migicovsky, founder of the firm that was perhaps <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2016\/12\/pebble-confirms-fitbit-sale-hardware-is-dead-software-in-maintenance-mode\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a bit too early<\/a> to the smartwatch market, has made good on <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2025\/01\/pebble-smartwatch-founder-is-launching-a-smaller-scale-open-source-reboot\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his pledge<\/a> to find out and has made <a href=\"http:\/\/store.repebble.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new Pebble watches available for preorder<\/a>. The Core 2 Duo, \"almost exactly a <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2016\/10\/pebble-2-reviewed-proof-that-a-heart-rate-monitor-doesnt-make-a-fitness-tracker\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pebble 2<\/a>\" with modernized chips, 30 days battery life, and a black-and-white e-paper screen, is $150 at preorder and is scheduled to ship in July. The Core Time 2, Migicovsky's \"dream watch,\" is bigger, color, and metal and goes for $225 right now.
