That&rsquo;s because the <a href=\"https:\/\/public-inspection.federalregister.gov\/2024-24563.pdf?utm_campaign=pi+subscription+mailing+list&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=federalregister.gov\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">US Copyright Office granted<\/a> an exemption <a href=\"https:\/\/publicknowledge.org\/public-knowledge-ifixit-free-the-mcflurry-win-copyright-office-dmca-exemption-for-ice-cream-machines\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">allowing third parties<\/a> to diagnose and repair commercial equipment &mdash; including the ones that make your McFlurries.<\/p>\n<p>Now, franchise owners will be able to break through the digital locks that have blocked them from repairing McDonald&rsquo;s ice cream machines for years.
