We'll loose some socialization and some hands-on experiences, but it's not going to be a fundamental gap.  \r\nThe losses on elementary and middle school aged students are way deeper, and the effectiveness of remote learning with them less, and I haven't heard of _any_ plans that prioritized formative-age students.\r\nYes, plans that involve children distancing are automatically suspect, and in-person-but-no-normal-socialization is bizarre for kids, but it seems like someone should have tried.<\/div><img alt=\"Connecticut School District Prepares Classrooms For Hybrid Learning\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.vox-cdn.com\/thumbor\/z8vv4uOZcrrr0Sp8TYj0JdwCADk=\/0x0:5040x3360\/1310x873\/cdn.vox-cdn.com\/uploads\/chorus_image\/image\/67371033\/1270461506.jpg.0.jpg\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"\/><small>Photo by John Moore\/Getty Images<\/small>\n\n  <p>The temperature was in the 70s in State College, Pennsylvania on Friday, but the local school board voted to call a &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.statecollege.com\/news\/local-news\/state-college-schools-will-take-friday-off-as-officials-evaluate-covid19-data,1483954\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">snow day<\/a>,&rdquo; cancel classes, and have students in the town&rsquo;s public schools stay home. Cases of COVID-19 in the area had spiked, and the school district&rsquo;s board of directors needed time to decide what to do. <\/p>\n<p>No students or staff in the district were sick.
