{"id":22970,"date":"2020-06-18T10:58:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T14:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pappp.net\/?guid=4614c6f7fa30471be980124630efe238"},"modified":"2020-06-18T10:58:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-18T14:58:00","slug":"supreme-court-blocks-trumps-attempt-to-end-daca-in-5-4-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pappp.net\/?p=22970","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court blocks Trump&#8217;s attempt to end DACA in 5-4 decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"syndicated-attribution\">Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/speedreads\/920781\/supreme-court-blocks-trumps-attempt-end-daca-54-decision\">The Week: Most Recent Home Page Posts<\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color : #fff7d5;\n\t\t\tborder-width : 1px; padding : 5px; border-style : dashed; border-color : #e7d796;margin-bottom : 1em; color : #9a8c59;\">Article note: Man, the right is having a bad time with their stolen supreme court seats not being adequate to reliably push their agendas this week.\r\nAnd they didn't take the arbitrary and capricious restriction 2a cases that were the only potential desirable outcome I was hoping for from the packed court, which makes it doubly weird.<\/div><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.theweek.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/tw_image_6_4\/public\/gettyimages-1220207749_1.jpg?itok=_UI49gQi\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"\/><\/p> <p>The Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump on ending DACA.<\/p>\n<p>In a 5-4 decision on Thursday, the court blocked the Trump administration from ending <a href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/speedreads\/877967\/supreme-court-seems-poised-let-trump-end-daca\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program<\/a> protecting undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. before turning 16 from being deported, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/supreme-court\/supreme-court-rules-trump-cannot-end-daca-big-win-dreamer-n1115116\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC News reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice John Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/19pdf\/18-587_5ifl.pdf\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote the majority opinion<\/a>, stating that the administration's effort to end DACA was \"arbitrary and capricious\" and that it violated Administrative Procedure Act, so the rescission of DACA \"must be vacated.\" Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor joined Roberts. The opinion <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/supreme-court-makes-major-decision-daca\/story?id=71254750\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">notes<\/a>, however, that \"the dispute before the court is not whether DHS may rescind DACA. All parties agree that it may.
