{"id":1374,"date":"2014-04-17T17:21:17","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T21:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pappp.net\/?p=1374"},"modified":"2014-04-17T17:21:17","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T21:21:17","slug":"inspiron-11-3000-hinge-screw-defect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pappp.net\/?p=1374","title":{"rendered":"Inspiron 11-3000 Hinge Screw Defect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pappp.net\/?attachment_id=1378\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1378\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pappp.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Inspiron113000Hinge.png\" alt=\"Inspiron113000Hinge\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1378\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Inspiron 11-3000 I&#8217;ve been carrying around developed a rattle the other day, and today I decided to open it up.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pappp.net\/?attachment_id=1379\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1379\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pappp.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Inspiron113000Open.png\" alt=\"Inspiron113000Open\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1379\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Their <a href=\"ftp:\/\/ftp.dell.com\/Manuals\/all-products\/esuprt_laptop\/esuprt_inspiron_laptop\/inspiron-11-3137_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.pdf\">disassembly instructions<\/a> are a little unfortunate &#8211; the whole edge of the machine has terrible little clips which are nigh-impossible to handle without marring &#8211; but I&#8217;m generally pretty pleased with how the machine is put together, especially by budget laptop standards. <\/p>\n<p>For some reason, two screws inside the hinge on the one I&#8217;ve been carrying around worked their way out and started rattling around.  There&#8217;s nothing in there for them to short, they stay captive, and there wasn&#8217;t any tangible functional problem, but it sure looked like a QC problem.  <\/p>\n<p> The other 4 haven&#8217;t developed that problem, but this one has seen the most use, so I might be repeating the process 4 times. <\/p>\n<p>But only once per machine. Because Loctite 242.
